Buy less. Keep it longer.

The most sustainable product is the one you don't have to replace. Our whole buying approach follows from that: stock a small number of pieces per category, favour materials and construction that age well, and resist adding something just because it would sell. Fewer things, better made, is an environmental position as much as an aesthetic one.

Before an item joins the shop we look at what it's made of, whether parts can be replaced, and how it's likely to hold up after a year of real use. Things that are designed to be thrown away after a season don't make the cut, however well they'd perform commercially.

We ship in recyclable materials and keep filler to what's genuinely needed to protect the item. We'd rather send something in a plain, modest box that recycles cleanly than in layered packaging that looks impressive and can't be separated.

If something you bought from us fails, ask before you bin it. Where a repair or a replacement part is possible we'll point you to it, even when the item is long out of warranty and there's nothing in it for us.

Shipping goods around the world carries a real carbon cost, and consolidating orders only reduces it so far. We don't hold third-party environmental certifications, and we won't imply otherwise. Parts of the catalogue come through conventional supply chains rather than directly from a named workshop — where that's the case we say so rather than dressing it up.

We'd rather be accurate about all of this than write a page of comfortable language that doesn't survive a second look.
